God . . . will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. (Hebrews 6:10)
Tsunamis, tornadoes, volcanic eruption, heat waves and drought . . . this decade has seen some profound upheavals in natural events. Yet, despite all these catastrophes, the seasons have continued to arrive, one after the other. Right now, spring is in the air in the northern hemisphere, with the assurance of summer to follow. Where I live, in the southern hemisphere, trees are shedding their leaves in preparation for winter. Despite the changes in global conditions, God continues to send us new seasons on a regular basis. Today's passage reminds us of the need to persevere in the work we do for the Lord. Even when things get tough, He wants us to continue to love Him and to help His people.
Throughout our lives, we enjoy the spring of new beginnings, when life is full of promise and anticipation. We bask in the summer of happy times, confident that life is good, and hopeful it will remain so. The autumn years often take us by surprise, when the freshness of youth starts to fade, and we feel the occasional chill of approaching old age. Then winter hits, bringing some aches and pains and perhaps times of loneliness and uncertainty. Yet no matter the season, God's Word urges us to keep on keeping on. "Continue to help others," the writer instructed. In the process, we show love toward God.
Decide now what you can do to help someone else today.
